Prevalence and incidence 常用於描述疾病發生的研究報告中。prevalence 指當前有某一種疾病的總人數，但是 incidence 是指每年新增的病患人數。例如以下的句子 prevalence 是 2,500,000 人，incidence 則為12,000人 。
